This term has been a busy and brilliant one for PSHE, with students taking part in a wide range of sessions designed to help them make informed choices, stay safe, and build the skills they need for their futures.
Drop Down Day: Real-World Learning in Action The highlight of the term was our PSHE Drop Down Day, where students swapped their usual timetable for a series of interactive sessions led by expert visitors and specialist organisations.
London Fire Brigade – Careers in Focus: Students heard from members of the London Fire Brigade, who spoke about the wide range of careers available within the service; far beyond firefighting itself. Students learned what it takes to build a career built around teamwork, courage, and service to others.
The RAP Foundation – Keeping Safe: The RAP Foundation delivered a powerful and thought-provoking session on personal safety, helping students understand risk, peer pressure, and how to make safe choices in different situations including the online world. Their real-life approach left a lasting impression on many of our students.
Camden Health – Healthy Food Choices: Representatives from Camden Health worked with students on making informed, healthy choices around food. The session covered everything from understanding nutrition labels to the impact of diet on both physical and mental wellbeing, giving students practical tools they can use every day.
Critical Thinking and the Media: Students also took part in a session focused on critical thinking, exploring how to question and evaluate the information they encounter online and in the media. In an age of misinformation, these skills are more important than ever, helping students become savvy, discerning consumers of news and content.
Healthy and Safe Relationships with Brook Students have been working with Brook on sessions exploring safe and healthy sexual and romantic relationships. These age-appropriate sessions give students the language, confidence, and understanding they need to build respectful relationships, recognise healthy boundaries, and know where to go for support and advice.
Looking After Ourselves: Mental and Physical Health Throughout the term, PSHE lessons have also focused on mental and physical health, encouraging students to think about how they can look after themselves both inside and outside of school. Topics have included managing stress, building resilience, staying active, and recognising when and how to ask for help.
